Ethical Devon Rex Breeding Program

A preservation-minded Devon Rex program in California

We do not build the cattery around output or constant availability. We plan with restraint so health, temperament, and correct Devon Rex type stay aligned over time.

Program Position

We breed to preserve quality, not to follow demand.

Program Pillars

Three commitments define every litter we plan

Health

Health is planned before a litter ever exists

We plan around line knowledge, breed-appropriate screening, and long-term program health rather than cosmetic claims or short-term demand.

Temperament

Companionship is part of correct Devon Rex type

The Devon Rex should be expressive, affectionate, and deeply livable. Personality is evaluated with the same seriousness as pedigree and structure.

Breed Type

Breed character should remain unmistakable

We care about structure, expression, coat, and balance so the breed remains recognizable in more than name alone.

Breeding Standard

A serious pairing is judged on more than beauty

Responsible Devon Rex breeding is not a single metric. We are not willing to trade temperament for showiness, health for convenience, or breed type for speed.

How We Evaluate

A strong breeding program can explain both what it pursues and what it avoids

1

Pedigree compatibility and long-range breeding plans

2

Temperament in real daily life, not only on paper

3

How a pairing strengthens the program rather than simply producing a litter

4

Whether a kitten is best suited for companion, show, or select breeding placement

The Non-Negotiable

An ethical breeder should be able to explain not only why a pairing was made, but also why other possible pairings were not. That discipline is part of preservation breeding.

Placement Standard

The way we place kittens reflects the way we breed

View the full placement process

01

Pairings are intentional

Each litter begins with a clear reason for the pairing rather than a need to increase availability.

02

Kittens are observed closely

We track development, confidence, sociability, and how each kitten matures before making placement decisions.

03

Homes are chosen for fit

Families are matched to kittens according to temperament, expectations, and readiness for the Devon Rex personality.

04

Support does not end at pickup

We remain available after placement because responsible breeding includes long-term accountability.

Frequently Asked

Questions families ask before joining the waitlist

What makes your breeding program different?

We keep the cattery intentionally small and breed with a preservation mindset. Every pairing is judged by health, temperament, pedigree, and correct Devon Rex type rather than short-term demand.

Do you place kittens only in California?

California is our primary focus, especially the Bay Area and Los Angeles. We may consider approved homes outside California when transport and overall fit make sense.

Do you sell kittens for breeding?

Only on a very limited basis to approved programs that share compatible standards. Most kittens are placed in carefully chosen companion homes.

Next Step

Continue to health standards, then review current and planned kittens

The breeding program establishes our standard. The health guarantee page shows how that standard is documented, and the kittens page shows how it guides actual placements.
